Transition metals

Transition metals have been known for their potentials to degrade organic compounds and to remove microbes from water. Our group will work on the synthesis of transition metals containing photocatalytic hybrid nano materials (Ti-Nb/Ag and/or Ti-CNT) that can be applied on the surfaces of existing water filter systems for the removal of chemical and biological contaminants including bacteria and viruses. Various techniques for the synthesis and application of these nano-materials, including microwave and sol-gel methods, will be used in this project.
